No Worries
Background
No Worries is the second studio album by DJ Dog-Eared. It was released in 1995 in the UK. The record was filled with tight EDM, house and techno tracks that were tried and tested throughout clubs and raves of England. The album became a firm favourite amongst the youth of the UK who frequented live music events. All the tracks were mixes created by DJDE and recorded at his home studio. A couple of DJ Dog-Eared’s friends were also invited to contribute to the tracks and add their take on the samples that had been found.
The most popular track, Subwoofer was split into two parts. The first part was created solely by DJDE. The track became a hit at his events and the final track he would play at the end of the night. He would turn the volume up to make sure that the speaker’s were really blasting as everyone left. The second part of the track was a remix by DJ Keen Noir of the original club track. He added some extra bass drops and a few extra samples to create a new twist on the popular mix.
The hardest track to create was Kennel Club. DJDE wanted to add some samples of dogs barking but couldn’t find any recordings that were good enough, so he went out to record what he needed. He attended a local dog show with his roving microphone recorder. Thankfully he managed to get plenty of samples of the dogs become one of them caught him unawares and ran off with his recording device.
Album Art
DJ Dog-Eared wanted a fun easy going cover to match the title of No Worries. Dekaf suggested a few ideas for the album art but he didn’t like any of them. He couldn’t think of what to do until he was walking in London and saw a rich woman with her toy poodle. Normally this wasn’t out of the ordinary, but this time, the dog was wearing a pink coat. DJDE loved the idea of a dog wearing clothes and it was then that inspiration struck him.
Within a week he booked up a local photo studio to shoot the cover. He invited his cousin Marty and his French bulldog Juno along to be the model. They both then went to the local large ASDA to find the perfect style for Juno. It was Marty who spotted the child’s smiling hoodie and felt it would suit the title of the album perfectly. It took both of them quite a few minutes to wrestle Juno into the hoodie, but when they did he was the perfect model for the cover.
