About These Fonts

As a classic British comic fan, I wanted a way of preserving some of the great hand lettering featured amongst the pages of these comic strips. Each free comic font has been taken straight from the pages of British comics from yesteryear. I was looking for specific strips that included most, if not all, the letters of the alphabet within the speech bubbles. I scanned in each page at the highest quality possible. Each letter has been vectorised, cleaned up and added into a useable typeface. These were created to celebrate some of the greatest comic artists, and these fonts are a tribute to them. While I am not the original artist or publisher of the comics I have scanned, these retro fonts were edited and digitised by me. So for that reason I am offering them for free including for use commercially. Just please do not pass these off as your own.

How To Use

Each font is offered as a True Type Font (.ttf) file that can be downloaded and used on all graphic and text software.

Each font has upper and lowercase options as well as main punctuation marks. With the majority, the lowercase letters are rougher with extra grunge, while the uppercase letters are smooth and more defined.
